The Shows We Loved – Day 2 at WIFW SS’ 14

We took a trip to the gorgeous coast of Zanzibar through Pia Pauro’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection at Wills India Fashion Week (WIFW) last afternoon. Bold Masai inspired prints in vibrant hues, intricate embroidery and detailed embellishing made this collection an instant favourite. Staying true to her aesthetic, the collection consisted of easy-to-wear silhouettes like tasseled kaftans, maxi sundresses and printed tunics along with stunning swimwear. We also loved her accessories; one of our favourite pieces was a feathered ear cuff that is definitely on our lust list now!

Inspired by Italian artist Lucio Fontana’s creative expressions, the latest collection from Shivan & Narresh explored sensuality through subtle negative spaces, slashed textures and cut outs appearing across the entire collection. Their signature luxurious swimwear was accompanied by alluring, body con evening gowns in shades of lemon and pops of bright tangerine and aqua.

Called ‘Tribus’ AM:PM ‘s collection displayed tribal motifs imprinted on shirt dresses and gowns. Sleek and sophisticated, the urban line featured soft, fluid fabrics in a dark and vivid colour palette ranging from deep navy to blood red.

Only the genius that is Amit Agarwal could infuse femininity and elegance into structured futuristic silhouettes. The collection was breathtaking. Metallic foil was moulded into fitted bodices, pencil skirts, full gowns and jackets. Intricate appliqué work and embroideries were seen on gowns in electric blues, deep corals and shimmering greys.

Anyone who loves fashion was completely in awe of Pankaj & Nidhi’s show, where the duo once again displayed their exquisite attention to detail and their technical prowess. They had it all – micro laser-cut details, intricate appliqué, and pristine mosaic prints. Called the ‘Grammar of Ornament’, this collection was all about surface textures on organza layers, crop tops, fitted dresses and pencil skirts. It was sheer beauty in motion!
