Easily the most anticipated show of the season, the Father of Indian Resort Wear and Stylista designer had his audience gripped right from the very first draped dress that glided down the runway. His collection, appropriately titled ‘Source Of Youth’ drew influences from Africa, the center of humanity, as it celebrated life and the beauty of youth with shimmery fabrics and beaded accessories handcrafted in Jordan.
Ever the trendsetter, the designer revolutionized crochet in an all new avatar – one that was both sexy and extremely wearable at the same time.
Fresh, untouched, almost ethereal whites that draped easily over every curve were punctuated with cleverly placed smatterings of gold and tangerine.
Femininity proved to be the new black with fitted day dresses accentuated with ruffles – a pleasant divergence from the designer’s otherwise clean aesthetic. The sophisticated, ultra-feminine monochrome cape dress skyrocketed to the top of our team’s wishlists for the coming season.
And finally, doing what Wendell and Wendell alone does best, we never cease to be amazed by his flowy resort-inspired silhouettes that move with such fluidity, it’s as if they have a mind of their own, much like the Wendell Rodricks woman herself.
But when the designer’s student and fashion’s darling, Masaba Gupta walked out as his showstopper we were absolutely spellbound, privileged to have seen a piece of fashion history in the making!
