The fourth edition of indie music festival NH7 is set to kick off in Pune this weekend (October 18-20), and Stylista has put together a list of 10 acts you must absolutely not miss this year.
1. Simian Mobile Disco
British electronic dance music act Simian Mobile Disco, consisting of James Ford and Jas Shaw, uses the elasticity of electronic music processes – the way components can be pulled apart, stretched, mutilated and reassembled – to present an electrifying show. They give the term ‘live dance music’ a whole new meaning!

Check out their track Sacrifice here.
2. Chase & Status
The headlining act isthe London drum & bass and dubstep giants Chase & Status. The path-breaking producers Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status)have headlined some of the most prestigious stages at music festivals globally, so trust us when we tell you they’re set to destroy the dancefloor in Pune this year!

3. Sky Rabbit
Easily one of our favourite electro-rock acts,Sky Rabbit combines dream pop and dance punk to create a unique sound that is very much their own. Their live sets are dynamic, to say the least, so make sure you’re up front and centre when it’s their moment in the sun (literally!).

Last week, we wrote about Delhi-based Nikhil Kaul’s debut EP Swimmers on #MusicMondays. As Frame/Frame, his music experiments with a wide variety of sample sources to show off an eclectic project full of electro, glitch-hop and post rock influences. We’re definitely checking out his live set.

One of the most sought after indie music producers in India (he’s produced music by The Riot Peddlers, Goddess Gagged, The Lightyears Explode and several others), Ayan De’s solo act is called Paralights, and his debut EP Scores For Your Background is full of glitchy beats and instrumental loops using drums and guitars.

7. Nischay Parekh
The singer-songwriter from Kolkata makes his debut at NH7 this year with a prominent set time, so if you’re in the mood for some soothing feel-good pop rock, definitely hit up his gig. We’re big fans of his laid back vibe.

One of the founding members of folktronic act Bandish Projekt, Nucleya aka Udayan Sagar is now known for his bass-heavy productions that promise to have you on your feet for the entire set.Best known for making the dubstep genre popular in the country, it’s his use of glitch-hopsounds that makes him a real crowd favourite.

Check out his collaborative track Bangla Bass for The Dewarists here.
This one’s gonna be special for all you metal heads out there. Welsh band Skindredwill be performing their signature style of “aggressive dance music” – a heady crossover between reggae, dancehall, dubstep and heavy metal riffs! – at your nearest mosh pit!

Glitch-hop and breaks act EZ Riser (Sohail Arora) will be seen on laptop and effects, funky future garage artist Sandunes aka Sanaya Ardeshir will bring live synths, and drum & bass act Ox7gen (Aditya Ashok) will be on drums. We’re excited to see what this is going to sound like.
