Last Saturday, we looked into the future. The future of fashion, that is. We made a trip down to the Whistling Woods Neeta Lulla School Of Fashion in Mumbai for their first ever Future Of Fashion Forum, which highlighted the current and future state of the industry we love by stalwarts in the fields of luxury, retail, trend forecasting, e-commerce and styling.
Our favourite discussions of the day centered around e-commerce (we may have picked up a handy tip or two for Stylista.com!), trend forecasting by the global forecasting giant WGSN (we had no idea trends were set by examining socio-political situations across the world) and styling, where Grazia’s Fashion Director Ekta Rajani spoke about what it’s like working for a fashion magazine and celebrity stylist Tanya Ghavri gave us the inside scoop on being Sonam Kapoor’s style savant.
The audience was gripped from the very start, but when fashion’s own superstars Nachiket Barve, Neeta Lulla, Rocky S and Manish Malhotra came on stage, the university’s student body was buzzing with excitement, hungry to hear all they had to say about their career success stories.
Being in a room full of promising young minds eager to make a difference in the world of fashion was the perfect way to spend the weekend. After all, the Stylista team strives to give young Indian designers a platform to showcase their talent and grow to be the next Masaba Gupta or Padma Shri Wendell Rodricks. And like they say, one’s education never really stops, now does it?
